The IAC Headquarters, completed in March, 2007, is the first New York building by world-renowned architect, Frank Gehry. Rising along the West Side Highway, its design was intended to reflect the inventiveness and creativity of the more than 60 brands in Barry Diller’s media and Internet empire, which include Ask.com, Citysearch, HSN, LendingTree, Evite, Match.com and Ticketmaster.

The curvaceous glass forms represent a marked departure from the fragmented structures Gehry became known for. The sloped and angled panels, which were bent on site, are the world’s first glass curtain wall to be cold-warped. From the north, the forms take on a more symmetrical, pleat-like appearance. From the south, they appear more blocky. Dotted white bands line the windows, intended to control the flow of light inside.

The public lobby of the building is home to two of the world’s most unique projection video screens, which use a custom dual bounce mirror system that actually rotates the image from each projector, creating a “portrait” mode image and a higher pixel density, which in turn creates smaller pixels for smooth close proximity viewing. They are clearly visible from within the West Side Highway, exposing the 75,000 cars that pass by daily to a stream of marketing. The 21,081,200 pixel screen on the west Wall, facing a spacious ground floor area behind the building’s glass facade, is the largest permanently installed edge-blended video wall in the world at 118′ 3-3/8" x 11′, with a surface area equal to over 250 x 42" plasma screens. It displays programming, created by created by Trollbäck + Company, segmented into 9 modules, reflecting the consumer experience associated with IAC’s brands. For example, the Ticketmaster module generates real-time geographic representations of where major concerts are taking place around the world and the Ask.com module delivers real-time news feeds fro Ask news. The smaller video wall, at 20′ x 11′, near the building entrance on 18th St, is positioned behind the lobby reception desk and displays real-time interactive IAC content superimposed on a composite image made from ultra hi-res images of Earth. Using handheld touch screens, lobby guests are be able to rotate the globe and access real-time operational statistics of IAC’s businesses. For example, click on the HSN logo and a live TV feed will be shown along with other information such as the top seller and the number of users on the web site.

The 10-floor, 160-foot building offer 130,000 net usable square feet of customized interior designed to increase productivity including open office environments, modular meeting spaces, Wi-Fi accessibility, enhanced video conferencing capabilities, and 100% exposure to natural light. The floors that house the main corporate offices are dominated by a two-story atrium that overlooks the roof of the Chelsea Piers and the Hudson River.

While at IAA we present latest technology in the smartforvision concept car, at the Galerie Nikki Diana Marquardt in Paris new ways of car design is presented: Honda and Intersection, the only magazine in the world dedicated to “style in motion”, show the Honda CR-Z Intersection – a contemporary car with more than one look. CARIZZMA by R-M – the custom paint range of the premium automotive refinish brand R-M, brand of BASF (BASF Coatings) – developed a specially mixed custom beige paint. The custom-made tyres/rims will come in two options for Autumn/Winter and Spring/Summer. Complementing the car perfectly are specially tailored seat covers created by the Anglo-Japanese designers Eley Kishimoto. The Anglo-Japanese brand Eley Kishimoto has created a series of seat covers for the interior that are unlike any others in the world. They feature subtle motifs, adding a “Pop” feel to this coupé, which in itself is a declaration of their Japanese love affair.
